چکیده

Nonmethane hydrocarbons (NMHCs) play an important role in the atmosphere. Photochemical oxidation of hydrocarbons leads to ozone (O3), organic acid, and carbon dioxide (CO2) production, with major implications for local and regional air quality, acid deposition, and the greenhouse effect. In addition, emissions of atmospheric NMHCs lead to an increased aerosol loading, which has major implications for the global heat budget, human health, tropospheric chemistry, and visibility.

Study of tropospheric ozone concentration trend of Kermanshah by meteorological parameter and ozone precursor and OMI images

Abstract: Clean air is a necessity for human well-being and health. Air pollution is a major threat to humans and other organisms and is considered as one of the environmental challenges. Today, with the increase in air pollution, the need to know more about the causes of its occurrence has been raised. The various consequences of air pollution have made air quality monitoring and control inev...

On the Relation Between the Large-Scale Tropospheric Circulation and Air Quality in Tehran

The large-scale tropospheric circulation can play a controlling role in the accumulation and ventilation of air pollutants. It thus impacts air quality in large urban areas. This paper investigates the statistical relations between the dynamical indices related to circulation in the troposphere and visibility as a surrogate for air pollution in the urban area of Tehran for the climatological pe...

Arctic air pollution: origins and impacts.

Notable warming trends have been observed in the Arctic. Although increased human-induced emissions of long-lived greenhouse gases are certainly the main driving factor, air pollutants, such as aerosols and ozone, are also important. Air pollutants are transported to the Arctic, primarily from Eurasia, leading to high concentrations in winter and spring (Arctic haze). Local ship emissions and s...

First Confrontation between Sciamachy No Tropospheric Columns and the Outputs of a Regional Air Quality Model

The SCanning Imaging Absorption SpectroMeter for Atmospheric CHartographY (SCIAMACHY) measurements provide us with new information about the concentration levels of air pollutants in the boundary layer and the free troposphere. Until now, our knowledge about air pollution was based on surface observations (which often give a too much local information) and numerical models (not enough evaluated...

Impacts of air pollution and climate change on forest ecosystems--emerging research needs.

Outcomes from the 22nd meeting for Specialists in Air Pollution Effects on Forest Ecosystems "Forests under Anthropogenic Pressure--Effects of Air Pollution, Climate Change and Urban Development", September 10-16, 2006, Riverside, CA, are summarized. Tropospheric or ground-level ozone (O3) is still the phytotoxic air pollutant of major interest. Challenging issues are how to make O3 standards o...
